Don’t let your kid be a quitter

Something I was thinking about this morning…don’t let your kid be a quitter.

NO WAY are you quitting

NO WAY are you quitting

I’ll bet if you read the definition of being a quitter right before you said it was okay for them to quit something,  you would not let them quit.

Quitter- a person who gives up easily or does not have the courage or determination to finish a task.

In my experience when my kids want to quit something it’s because they are being lazy and don’t want to finish, or something has made them mad, or they just aren’t able to do it as good as they think they should be able to.

Allowing them to quit would not teach them that it’s okay not to win EVERY time, it would teach them that it’s  the easy thing to do, may make them envious of other people because others may succeed at the very thing that they couldn’t do, & you are sending a message that you don’t think they are good enough to finish either.

It starts young…don’t let them quit that game of memory with you because they are “bored” or distracted or mad because they aren’t winning.  Let them take a break if need be but don’t let them quit.
