Digging for Gold

Well Hello!!!! It has been way too long since I have sat down and blogged…let’s see…there was Harvest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, a barn sale, Christmas, Vacation, & 4 birthdays!!!  It’s been busy.  My absolute FAVORITE time of the year is celebrating those holidays.  Now that they are over and I’ve deChristmased my house and finally organized all of my holiday decorations, I’ve had empty tables and no decor out now for sometime.  I’ve found myself asking “what now?”  What do I put out now?  Should I go back to the bird theme?  Should I put out all of my mercury glass beauties ( I have been collecting pieces for years because I LOVE that mercury glass look)? I wasn’t really getting excited about any of that. So there sat my front room…bare.

I wanted something warm but light, whimsical and shabby…

My front room was so dark it seemed once we put the leather sofas in there.  My leather sofas were in my sunroom but we had bought a sectional in there so my leathers went into my front room and the greens went downstairs.  I feel like my house is sometimes like those little games with the plastic tiles and the picture…you have to move this over there to get that over there and then move that up here….oh well you get the point.

Remember these??

Rearranging is always a great way to give a fresh look to your room…So that was step one.  I took my 2 leather oversized chairs out of the room and put them down in our family room downstairs.  What a difference that made as far as lightening the room up.  Then I decided to swap out my two gray side dressers with one huge buffet/table that I had at my barn.  That really lightened up the room as well.

Once I had my furniture in place I went to work gathering all of my accents.  I decided last summer as I was collecting things for the barn sale that I had refallen in love with GOLD.  So I went digging for GOLD! I had a bin in my basement full of old accent decor that was GOLD, and headed back up to the barn for some of those GOLD accent pieces I had collected over the summer.

I had also gone to Hobby Lobby to browse around and see what they had.  I found 4 beautiful vases/jugs.  Knowing that I would use them for a baby shower I was helping decorate, I went ahead and got them.  Adding them to my collection of GOLD.
